JOHN THE REVELATOR SAW THE SAINTS AT THE MARRIAGE SUPPER

EVERY PROPHETIC TRUTH IN REVELATION WAS A DRAMA THAT JOHN SAW. NOTHING PROVES THE LITERALNESS OF THIS BOOK MORE PERFECTLY. John did not just hears words, but heard and saw the drama of what he heard. You have to be unaware of the Bible to doubt this great Book of Revelation. John saw the Rapture in Chapter four. He saw the Tribulation and Judgments begin in Chapter six and now sees the Marriage Supper in Chapter nineteen.

Nothing makes the promises of God more beautiful than Satan’s drive to defile and debauch them. Everything in God’s world, and especially His plans for the Biblical future, has been attacked by the devil. That’s what the devil is, an imitator and substitute showman that belittles the breathtaking future of the Kingdom of God. Satan’s drive to portray himself as God has never produced one thing but proof that he is a “god,” the idiot god, clearly headed for defeat. All that is ugly and dark is soon to be judged and burned with fire. The glorious church, redeemed and glorified, shall not miss the coming hour of His glory.

This earth has no glory that can compare with the future glory of Christ’s true church. A worldly church does not even preach about this truth, but a persecuted church certainly will. Jesus Christ, as He was ending His earthly journey gave His disciples a parting promise that He would prepare the wedding chamber and surely return to rescue them and all the ready saints. He said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3).

That wedding chamber and city is ready because this same John that penned these words saw the city gleaming in Heavenly “Son” light. This city is ready, the living saints are ready, the angels are ready, the dead in Christ are ready, and we are waiting for the Father to give the word. I certainly know that Jesus Christ is ready and He will soon appear to begin the end.

In his final revelation, John gave us the exact picture of this moment of glory. “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.” (Revelation 19:7-9).

“Let us be glad and rejoice…” When you view the location of this Marriage Supper, the exalted host Jesus Christ and the glorified saints of both past and present, it quickly becomes an event like no other in human history. Joseph Seiss spoke of it with these words, “It is Christ in the character of the Lamb, the mighty Goel, formally acknowledging and taking to himself as co partners of his throne, dominion, and glory, all those chosen ones who have been faithful to their betrothal, and appear at last in the spotless and shining apparel of the righteousness of the saints, thenceforward to be with him, reign with him, and share with him in all his grand inheritance, forever.” (The Apocalypse, Joseph A. Seiss, p. 430.)

“Ten thousand times ten thousands in sparkling raiment’s bright,
The armies of the ransomed saints throng up the steps of light.
Tis finished, all is finished, their fight with death and sin.
Fling open wide the pearly gates and let the victors in.” (Unknown)

The praise and glory that fills the air will be so heavenly and so blessed that angels will cease their singing to listen with rapt attention. As saint after saint hears Him, the Eternal Christ and Bridegroom, pass out the eternal rewards and appoint His redeemed to the cities of the earth, honor will fill the Bridal Chamber. At the appointed time the only Begotten Son, now robed in the glory of His Father, which He laid aside to visit Calvary and make His offering for sin, will serve the cup of communion.

“But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.” (Matthew 26:29). It is fitting that this promise will be kept at the Marriage Celebration because this is when the Father’s Kingdom will be inaugurated and set in motion. Can you imagine taking communion at the hands of the Testator as the Testament is fulfilled to the letter?

This world system is in the throes of its final death. Immoral conduct has sunk to the bottom rung of human depravity. Satan is preparing for his last rampage, but the saints of God are trusting in the promises that cannot fail. Same-sex marriage is the last dregs in the cup of wrath. You cannot stoop lower than to blaspheme the sacrament of marriage and the Bridegroom of His Eternal Bride. Our God is watching and is about to act.

Isaiah, the statesmen prophet, spoke of our day. “And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.” “According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence. So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.” (Isaiah 59:14-15; 59:18-20). God the Father is watching. He knows all and at the precise moment, the End will begin.

“There be prudent Prophets all,
The Apostles six and six,
The glorious Martyrs in a row,
And Confessors betwixt.
There doth the crew of righteous men
And nations all consist;
Young men and maids that here on earth
Their pleasures did resist.

“The sheep and lambs that hardly ‘scaped
The snare of death and hell,
Triumph in joy eternally,
Whereof no tongue can tell;
And though the glory of each one
Doth differ in degree,
Yet is the joy of all alike
And common certainly.

“There David stands, with harp in hand,
As master of the choir;
A thousand times that men were blessed
That might his music hear.
There Mary sings ‘Magnificat,’
With tunes surpassing sweet;
And all the virgins bear their part,
Singing about her feet.

“’ Te Deum,’ doth St. Ambrose sing,
St. Austin doth the same;
Old Simeon and Zacharie
Anew their songs inflame.
There Magdalene hath left her moan,
And cheerfully doth sing,
With all blest saints whose harmony
Through every street doth ring.

“And in that holy company
May you and I find place,
Through worth of him who died for us,
And through his glorious grace;
With Cherubim and Seraphim,
And hosts of ransomed men,
To sing our praises to The Lamb,
And add our glad Amen.”
(The Apocalypse, Joseph A. Seiss, p. 432.)

  1. Hi i’m impressed by yr works. the urban jungle i’m in is full of places just ripe for an extreme makeover.you’ve just inspired me.i’m a novice in this area .would it be possible for you to provide me a step by step guide to making stencils of dimensions suitable for walls? i’m not from any commercial concern but am interested in teaching and directing teens to a new artistic expression in an urban setting with no monetary profits in mind.

  2. This was another great message, Pastor Joseph. I believe every true Christian can hardly wait until we no longer have to watch this planet as it spirals into hell.

    I agree that the growing acceptance of homosexuality by society is indeed a sign of the end for this age. But even more telling than that is the acceptance of this perversion by most of the Protestant Churches these days.

    Compounding this evil is the fact that kids are legally allowed to be adopted into same-sex households and exposed to this perversion.

    I can’t picture Jesus who held children in such high regard permitting this offense to go on much longer (Luke 18:16-17). Note particularly what he said about anyone who harmed a child in Matthew 18:6-7; Mark 9:42; Luke 17:2. I expect this applies also to someone who offends any of God’s children, regardless of age.

    Today, in the face of such blatant evil like this this, I believe our redemption is very, very near – and I thank God for that!

  3. I love all you wrote here. Gotta’ admit though, am most anxious to find out what you are keeping from us in regard to Romney ~ how could he POSSIBLY be more *EVIL* than the one who is already in the White House? This pResident, though he “claims” to be a Christian ~ displays anything BUT Christ-like, Christ-loving behavior!!

    Truth is, the rapture may well EASILY be … BEFORE… this election is ever even set in motion!! I certainly pray it is.

    Different subject: you speak of how low mankind has sunk & I cannot agree more — I read an online story last year about human trafficking that goes on RIGHT IN THIS COUNTRY…. and sigh, what happens to children (adults, too) but children who’ve been kidnapped are used as “sex slaves”, again right in this country. Their biggest time for these depraved perverts to party with these poor screaming-for-their-very-lives children? Super bowl weekend (which is this VERY weekend!) Supposedly men pay big money to go force themselves on these children ~ right before they go to the big game. And many of these men are “businessmen” ~ the same ones who show up in church in business suits, with their families on Sunday mornings, pretending to be all pure and right before God.

    May the Lord have mercy!! I’ve never been able to shake that story from my head – and I caution anyone reading that if you have children or grandchildren, be overprotective if need be (they may well view it that way, but isn’t that better than having them end up like this?) And certainly pray for their protection from the evil one.

    Once I read that & have witnessed man’s continue depravity myself…. wallowing in sin & loving every minute of it…. causes me to pray all the more, “COME LORD JESUS!” Soo anxious to get to Paradise & away from this sin-sick world!! AMEN!!

  4. Its a pity so few can read.

    The cornerstone verse to the revelation of Jesus Christ tells us the language of Revelation is symbolism and not liberalism. The word signify is the Greek word seimano meaning to bring an image or picture to ones mind. The intention to teach us spiritual truth.

    If one misses the first verse we have another opportunity in verse two where we need to ask the question how John sees. Revelation 9 tells us that John saw the Revelation in the vision.

    Read the Bible and you will discover that all visions are in symbolic language.

    The marriage supper is what all believers have been enjoying for the past 2000 years as we eat and drink Christ who is the Word of God.

    How anybody can teach that there is more glory in the literal than the spiritual boggles one mind

  5. Note to Gil:

    It is true that many visions are full of sights which are symbolic, but some can be also be very literal. Consider Paul’s conversion experience on the road to Damascus (Acts 9.) Only Paul saw Jesus, those with him heard only the voice. So Paul was the only one who had a “vision” of Jesus. My point here is this was a very literal event, not a symbolic one.

    When we read Revelation, if we are careful and diligent enough, we can determine what within it is symbolic or not. Where symbolism is involved, the meaning is generally also presented (e.g. Revelation 1:12-20, Revelation 17). The Book of Daniel is particularly adept at explaining the dreams and visions presented there.

    Personally, I have found that to over-allegorize much of what is in the Bible often leads to error, such as the view that all of Bible prophecy was completed when Titus invaded Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Carried to the extreme, for example, I’ve heard the physical Resurrection of Jesus characterized as merely “symbolic” of a “spiritual resurrection” only.

    I totally disagree with your interpretation as the Marriage Supper of the Lamb being what we already have had for 2000 years, nor is the “wife” of Jesus, the church currently “arrayed in fine linen.” In my opinion, the present condition of the church would be more likened to that of an adulterous fiancee’ totally unworthy to be Jesus’ bride. This Marriage Supper is a literal event yet to come, the church at that time consisting of the glorified saints in heaven.

    I believe in one reads the Bible from the point of view that any verse or passage must be evaluated from the context of all the rest of the Bible, it will lead to a much more accurate grasp of what is being presented. The Written Word must be taken in its entirety, just like the Living Word, who is Jesus himself.

    But the most important thing we should do is to ask the Holy Spirit to help us in our Bible reading because we will need his assistance to give us the spiritual discernment we need to help us understand it. This is not to say we will ever understand everything, but reading the Bible is truly a matter of the journey being vital to us one day attaining the destination – a very literal and real New Jerusalem!

  6. How can Gil be so confused. WE have not yet enjoyed the Marriage Supper. That is no where taught in the Bible. It is obvious, the Marriage Supper is yet future and is literal. Thank you pastor for giving us such insights into what believers can expect in the near future. God Bless!

  7. Dear Pastor

    Philippians 4:8 in short think on these thing: what ever things are true, honest, pure whatever things are lovely….
    Gil we have to let the Pastor seek those things that are coming as a new Heaven and a new Earth Peter also spoke to us about where our heads should be.

    I found a good documentary you tube video
    God Bless

  8. Excellent article and easy to understand explanation. How do I go about getting permission to post part of the article in my upcoming news letter? Giving proper credit to you the author and link to the site would not be a problem.

  9. How could the Revelation of Jesus Christ be understood as alreaady fulfilled at some time in the past? Certainly the churches to whom Jesus gave John letters to write existed at the time Revelation was written, but it is clear that the seven churches are also representative of churches throughout the ages and in the present. But, after chapter 3 John hears “Come up hither,” and he is shown “things that must be hereafter.” Who is it around the throne but the “taken up” redeemed saints and angelic beings. We must remember it says “things hereafter.” Everything beginning with Chapter 4 is “hereafter.” The wrath described as jusgment unfolds upon the earth is yet to come. Don’t be fooled, nothing like what is described has ever taken place on this earth. When did the sea turn to blood and every living thing in it died? Are we foolish enough to think that Armageddon has come and gone? Are we foolish enough to think that the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is presently taking place on this earth. Yes we can read! Even so come Lord Jesus!
