Why Men Draw Back

Backsliding is the greatest scourge among the body of Christ. Almost no one ever intends to backslide, but do so because of weaknesses in their walk. Backsliding always starts with drawing back, praying less or not at all, loss of interest in reading the Bible etc. As I perceive it, there are five things in the Bible that often leads to a backslid state. ONE: God’s Word is very plain that “The just shall live by faith. (Hebrews 10:38). Living the Christian life by feelings is impossible. Some days we can walk on water, and some days we feel totally forsaken. If we live by faith, God is just as real on that second day as He was on that first day. TWO: The Christian life is a life of total surrender to Christ. To serve the Lord, we must forsake ourselves and take our cross. “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). If they are going to keep the faith, a Christian must move beyond the comfort zone of the flesh. A life of obedience is the only acceptable life. If you go to Heaven, you will live a holy life. THREE: People that go back on Christ will first leave their first love. It is impossible to backslide unless you leave that passionate love you had for Him when you were first saved, “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent” (Revelation 2:4-5). FOUR: The next great destroyer of faith is to allow an offense against someone. FIVE: If you fail to learn and accept the fear of God in your life. A genuine Christian cannot get away with anything that displeases their Father in Heaven. Listen carefully to this message from the Holy Ghost.

  1. Because they have truned away and now are into works only or have the OTHER JESUS that Paul preched on..and think they replaced Israel even supporting the enemies that not only hate Israel but hate Christians just as much or more. Do not listen to the scripture much less the Islamic Koran and how it is now all over the world to make everyone muslims or be beheaded. to be a enemy of Israel, G-d promises in Gen 12:3 that they are cursed, even those who don’t have an opinion one way or the other on Islam..G-d tells us that no one sits on the fence. we are on His Side and Israel’s or on Satans’ side with the enemies of Israel..to believe they replaced Israel is DEAD wrong. looks like soon they all who believe the lies of men and not G-d’s word, will be destroyed as it is written..

  2. Dear Brother Joseph:

Thank you for this bold article. If this plain “truth” does not strike the
“fear of the Lord” into the hearts of men, I ask you what will??? May we walk
forever “in” his side….amen. God bless you all at paw creek ministries.

The old saying you don’t know what you had until you lost it or should i say left it.Means more to me know that i have been part of this “drawing back” sum 20 years ago.

for people who have been raised up in church or have had a close family who loves the Lord of which i had neather, have no idea how hard it is to make it back to the cross of calvary once you have fallen away.

And this is why Jesus means is so much more to me know because even though he was always there when i was lost,I did’nt know it “BUT” June 23,2009 that all changed when the Holy Ghost wooed my heart once again, I remembered how his i use to feel the presents of God, and after 6 weeks of intense conviction there was no way anyone could tell me that the Lord wasn’t dealing with me.

It’s been 2 years now and i still feel like i was saved yesterday,Gods finger came down in my living room and changed my life and i have’nt been the same sence

Im so thankful that Jesus loved me enough to watch over me until i sat still long enough to hear his voice calling me in my heart.

Alot of people my not get a 2nd chance im so glad i did….prase his Holy Name Forever..

    Dear Pastor Chambers,
thank you so much for your writings which give us great insight into God’s words. Your essays
    are very much appreciated.
I have been diagnosed as having esophagus cancer and expect to undergo surgery in the near future.
I would very much appreciate your prayers and the prayers of those at your church. As I approach
my 79th birthday, I find myself more and more active in my church as the treasurer, Deacon and
in Bible study teacher. I feel God has more in store for me.

  5. I was at the service where this sermon was brought forth and it was SO powerful. It made me take a look at myself to see if I had allowed any one or more of these 5 things to take hold in my life. I appreciate men and women of God who will stand up for the truth and not be afraid to bring forth the truth to this lost and dying world.

God Bless you Bro. Chambers and all the Paw Creek Family!
