Pat Boone claims that his heavy metal garb exhibited in his latest album, "No More Mr. Nice Guy," was just a joke and says that everyone should have treated it as such. This album, which he vehemently defends, contains jazzy versions of heavy-metal songs. It features the lyrics to songs which were written or performed by groups such as: AC/DC, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Metallica, Guns n’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, and others.
On a TBN special program he was given the opportunity to answer his critics. During this broadcast, he said that people should realize that there was a "method to his madness" and that God was using his unusual album and promotional attire to open new doors of witness to heavy metal groups.
In the past he has done forty gospel albums, along with pop, folk, and country albums. None are as blatant as this most recent release. Apparently, he is now revealing on the outside what was already on the inside.
