GOD MAKES BACK MOVES (Sermon by Michael Switzer)

Some of the greatest victories that have been experienced in the lives of God’s Saints came after all hope was gone. Its almost like the only really great success for the Bible warrior is given when flesh and human effort has become futile. We see this with almost every wonderful story in the Bible. Look at Esther, that great Queen of Ahasuerus of the Persians. The entire Jewish race was in danger of death. The words of Mordecia were,“For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14). She new hope was gone and unless God gave her favour her family was finished. What we really see is that most of us never give up our own efforts and our own self-confidence until it is evident that we are helpless. Then and only then can God get all the glory. Its important for the Kingdom of God and the victories so desperately needs that we hear this sermon. The Heavenly Father has a plan for every life listening, but until you get to the end of yourself He can do nothing. He wants you where He can use you and bring glory to Christ alone. There are no helpless situations when God can take over. Let this Sermon change your life.

  1. As limited human beings, we never have the big picture. As a result when we try to rely wholly on ourselves, we are bound to get it wrong.
Elijah thought he was the last of God’s prophets (1 Kings 19). In the account of his experience at the cave at Mount Horeb (Sinai) I wonder if the Lord’s “still, small voice” had always been there but unperceived as the prophet’s attention was focused on the wind, earthquake, and fire instead.

I don’t think it is an accident that our troubled times have caused us to shift our focus and not take the time to listen to that only voice that has all the answers.

Remember, Peter was doing all right on the stormy Sea of Galilee until he looked at the wind and waves instead of the one who had ultimate authority over both (Matthew 14:28-31).

I agree with Albert. It seems like I’m the only one I know who is actually reaching out for people with the message of Christ on a street level. The harvest is plentiful but the workers are indeed few.
