Jesus Said, I Will Come Again

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

The bible has many wonderful examples of saints caught out of impending judgments from God. Noah and his family and Lot and his daughters are perfect pictures. Why do most of the churches deny this great hope? The answer is apostasy, turning from truth…

The Rapture and Escape Theology

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

Often, the enemies of the great truth of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture have attacked us with the criticism of teaching "Escape Theology." I would love to accept that accusation. Yes, we teach exactly what the Lord Jesus Himself told us to teach. The Lord said, "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21:36). Jesus had just finished painting a dire picture of the coming Great Tribulation. His terms were unmistakable. Then, He clearly called His disciples and all saints to "watch" and be prepared to "escape" the coming pain and horror of the AntichristÂ’s revenge and the LordÂ’s judgment of sin.

ItÂ’s impossible not to call the LordÂ’s words "Escape Theology." Words can convey very misleading ideas and those that accuse us of this in a negative way confuse many souls. ItÂ’s absolutely honorable to so live and follow Christ that we escape the worldÂ’s coming sorrows. A study of the Great Tribulation and the murder of millions of Jews and of Gentiles that repent and are converted to Christ will leave any wise person with the desire to be out of here. Our Father never intended for His family to be judged with the wicked.

This great text of truth from the LordÂ’s ministry talks about SatanÂ’s snares which are already evident. Read the way Jesus approached this idea of escape. "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth." (Luke 21:34-35). Satan is set on hindering every saint of God from being ready to go in the Rapture.

Jesus has always declared that this idea of His Coming and our being "caught up" to meet Him would be sudden and without warning. Any careless person living in a backslidden or disobedient state will not be ready and "…so that day (will) come upon you unawares." Very few ministers will preach this truth because the popular theology refutes the LordÂ’s warning and words. Do you want to believe the modern apostasy or the plain Word of God? Millions in the church world will be heartsick when they wake to find Jesus has come and gone. If you are living in sin, there is no possibility of your being ready. If the world has stolen your attention and rules your life, you are going to be left unless you repent and turn wholly to God.

The snares to trap you are many. The world is casting a net to catch you and entrap you. The television, internet, radio, or newsprint is full of attention getting things to fill your time. Many wholesome pleasures can so consume you that prayer and Bible reading is out the window. Dreaming of success that takes no time for the will of God will rob your soul. Never has a generation been so lured by wealth. The joy of the Lord used to fill the church, now the church loves pleasure in equal proportion to the world. Most churches are societies of fun and games. Fellowship is grand, but Biblical fellowship is centered on church life, Bible study, and soul winning, mixed with a small amount of clean fun. Music has so filled the church life that the average believer can quote many songs, but not any Scripture. Scripture memorization has almost vanished.

"Watch therefore, and pray always." Vigilance is the watchword that GodÂ’s Word plainly requires. There is no other way to stay on course and to keep looking up for Jesus to come. Daily prayer life is the first step in watching. He is not talking about looking at the sky when He says, "Watch." He is talking about your heart condition. A person that is ready for the Rapture has his heart set on Him and being in His eternal presence. Prayer becomes something absolutely wonderful when you are watching for Him. The worldÂ’s pleasures are empty at best. We live by grace through faith and the Blood cleanses us every day from resorting to the flesh life.

The Word of God is GodÂ’s sanctifying authority and no believer can stay in that sanctifying power without the Word. We should baptize ourselves with truth with absolute longing for its life-changing power. Jesus prayed, "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." (John 17:17). Unsanctified living has no chance of going in the Rapture. When your soul is sanctified to Him, it means your personal life is dead, your flesh appetites have been crucified, and your heart is set to do His whole will. Being full of the Spirit is the daily delight of a Rapture-ready believer.

You might say, "IÂ’m not ready to escape anything." That is your choice. For me, I know that, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die (or be Raptured) is gain." (Phillippians 1:21). To go in the Rapture is the grand prize for the Bible champions of all generations. IÂ’m looking up in my heart, and I believe He is looking down.

The Offering Unto the Lord

Friday, August 18th, 2006

Money and possessions must always be viewed as stored up self. They are an extension of our life and cannot be separated from who we are. It is impossible to be a Christian and that Christianity fail to extend into our pocketbook or bank account. A new believer is quick to make restitution to their enemies and to restore anything taken by false account. A believer’s music will be cleansed of that which is unholy. All their habits and entertainment will be weighed by a loving surrender to purity. Tithing and giving is utterly bound to our new love of the kingdom of God. Our possessions become totally connected to our love for the Lord, and all we own becomes the Lord’s possessions. Our Father in heaven gave His Son, His greatest treasure, and we must lay our treasure at His feet.

The prophet, Malachi, spoke of Jesus Christ coming in one of the First Testament’s greatest Messianic prophecies. He carefully declared the righteousness that would accompany the preaching of Jesus Christ. "But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap: And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness." (Malachi 3:2-3) An offering to the Lord was paramount in a First Testament worship setting. We are often careless in understanding this First Testament connection to the Second Testament experience. We do not bring a lamb or a heifer to the altar, we bring ourselves to the New Testament altar. But we do not bring just the physical person but all stored up extensions of that person. We give Him all we are and are gloriously converted to Sonship and the Body of Christ.

Tithing becomes a small part of the marvel of being Born Again and transformed into the kingdom. The "First Love" of a new Christian is so all-compassing and all-consuming that they are ready to give themselves in a sacrifice that will take your breath away. Barnabas was called the "son of consolation" because of this very expression of a consuming desire to give. "And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet." (Acts 4:36-37) Apostle Paul wrote to the saints and commended them for their liberality in giving. The New Testament saints lived out the great truth taught in this Malachi prophecy. You cannot serve God and rob Him of your tithes and offering.

Malachi continued in this text to spell out the Biblical order of giving. He quoted the Lord’s very strong warning and command, "For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return? Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation." (Malachi 3:6-9) The tithes are God’s possession of everything you receive or posses. When an unbeliever is converted, they should pay tithes of everything they posses and then begin to tithe their total income from that day forward. But tithing is a very small part of giving. From the foundation of tithing, each man or woman then gives according to his or her several abilities. God expects nothing of you but a reasonable sacrifice. Those that have much should pour out of their abundance to the work of the Lord. They that have little should give according to their smaller amount. All of us should give until we are giving up some pleasure and comfort.

All of this must be in our heart and not by command. The tithe belongs to the House of God and the ministry of the local church. Offerings should begin in your church but must continue in your desire to win the world to Christ: Missions, children’s homes, and true widows that have no kin and are faithful to the Lord and the washing of the saint’s feet. "Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man, Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work." (I Timothy 5:9-10)

The blessings cannot be stopped that will follow the Biblical tither and giver. Our Father will open the windows of Heaven. He keeps a perfect record and you cannot even give a cup of water in His name and the recording of your record fail. "Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts." (Malachi 3:9-11) Every believer that fails in this great truth will see nothing but curses upon their possessions. Those that obey shall be called, ".blessed.a delightful land" and shall shine as Barnabas in the Acts of the Apostles.

Independence Satans Language

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

The word independence never occurs in the Holy Bible. There is no place in the Christian life for this word or its character. The very idea of sin is synonymous with independence. God did not create a poisonous tree in the garden. He simply told Adam and Eve not to partake because they were never to be independent. Sin is independence from God. The Ten Commandments are not restrictions, but they are boundaries of protection. They place us in a pure state of complete dependency on God. We can act independent as Adam and Eve. When we do we become stripped of our covering. They never knew nakedness until they acted independent of God.

Something happens in the human spirit the very moment that we welcome an independent thought. Every child is born into a family where there is either guidelines or calamity. Raising children without strong discipline is the first step towards rebellion. The church life must be under strong leadership or there will be disaster. God, as the frontline of His church, ordains the very ministry of a pastor/shepherd. The seven letters of Revelation were addressed to the pastors of each church. A hireling pastor, who only serves for reward and does not know the sovereign Lordship of Christ, is a joke. A Biblical Pastor leads by Holy Ghost direction will be a man of authority. Sheep that do not follow the Shepherd are dangerous to the body.

The world promotes independence because it is the world’s nature. The very culture of the world is for every man to be a law unto himself. Satan is the master of independence. It was born in his moments of rebellion. It got him cast out of heaven and will get you cast down into hell. No person can serve Christ with an independent nature. The Lord Jesus said, “…If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24) The grace of Christ’s righteousness will strip you of your independent disposition and fill you with delight to do the whole will of God. You will find joy in being under authority. Being under authority, when it is ordained of God, is sweet and full of God’s rest.

Any person of authority that does not keep himself under authority is also dangerous to the home, the church, and society in general. With great severity, God will judge a haughty person that uses authority to abuse others and satisfy their own lust. King Saul was an example of a great king who lost his way because he lost his submission to Samuel. Samuel was God’s authority over Saul, but Samuel himself was under God’s authority. David dared not to touch Saul even when Saul was utterly backslidden. David was wise enough to wait on God’s timing. We are warned to pray “…for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” (1 Timothy 2:2) Authority is both an absolute necessity and, when falsely used, a destructive weapon. Respect authority and use it with fear when it becomes your turn.

The Antichrist spirit that is gripping the world is the last stand against authority. Nothing describes the spirit of this world as we face the Rapture and the dark seven years of ultimate iniquity better than final independence. The Antichrist himself will manifest total independence from God and claim himself as God. Independence of all commandments, moral laws, decency, and every pure expression will be championed.

Independence is an elusion. There is no such characteristic because everyone of us is constantly dependent on someone or something and especially on our God himself. Our breath depends on nature to balance its life giving oxygen. Our soul depends on the Creator to give it another chance at life. Someone provides almost everything we use or enjoy for life. Babies and the infirmed elderly wear diapers and someone else does the changing. We are no more independent that a pet fish in an aquarium. LetÂ’s learn to live our lives dependent on our Creator and one another.
