The Imminent Rapture of the Saint

There is more proof in the Bible of the supernatural rapture than almost every major doctrine of scripture. The three most important events are the rapture, the seven years of the great tribulation and the one thousand year reign of Jesus Christ on earth. Thirteen chapters of Revelation is devoted to documenting the great tribulation. Why is there so much space given to the seven years of this tribulation?
