Sunburst at Midnight

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ was the most supernatural manifestation of His life. It proved beyond question His Divinity. Death had no hold upon Him. He gave up Himself in death; they did not kill Him although they tried. Because “Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth” (1 Peter 2:22) and He was conceived of the Holy Ghost, and possessed no sin nature, death had absolutely no power over Him. When He walked out of that tomb, He possessed life on a supernatural level, fully anointed to give that life to every believing soul. Peter said on the day of Pentecost, “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.” (Acts 2: 24,27)

Saints of God must not relegate the Resurrection to a celebration once each year, but must live in its glory every day of their lives. He said, “…because I live, ye shall live also.” (St. John 14:19b) The Christian life is a supernatural life. We possess a level of living if we will take hold of it by faith, that this world knows nothing about, but they will often desire it if they see it in us. The Christian faith is not intellectualism; it is radical, transforming power. We are made to be new creatures in Christ. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” (2 Corinthians 5:17) His Divine life is offered to us so that we possess eternal life, even in this life, but especially in the hope of His coming.

Let me share a poem given to me years ago. It has appeared in different publications, but I want every Salty Saint to have it to share as we approach the Resurrection celebration. Remember, His power to His saints is supernatural, and He desires to fill you with His “resurrected life.” Listen to the Holy Ghost as He speaks: “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 1:19-20) This is our inheritance in Christ Jesus.

Sunburst At Midnight by Joseph Chambers

The life of Christ was like a garden
Filled with flowers of beauty rare.
His words were clothed in eloquent splendor,
The will of the Father He came to bear.

All His life was filled with goodness;
A slave of man, this Son of God.
His hands were stretched in love to others;
So sweet, so kind, a comforting rod.

But all the beauty of this glory,
By which He had made the Father known,
Was gone from sight in the darkness,
Crucified, entombed, like a seed sown.

Then like a sunburst at the midnight,
While dawn did break the day,
Angels came in their splendor
And rolled the stone away.

The guards did quake in their terror
They fell like dead men to the clay.
The seal of Rome had now been broken.
GodÂ’s love in His Son, had come to stay.

Once again we look about us
And see the darkness creeping in.
We search for hope but it eludes us.
Our world is filled with so much sin.

On this Resurrection Day, though in darkness,
I see the rays of a brighter day.
GodÂ’s Son again will soon be coming,
“Come on home”, He’s sure to say.

Oh, yes, while in this darkness
Another Sunburst is gathering near.
The Lights of Home are rising yonder,
His resurrection weÂ’re soon to shareÂ…
