Satan Is No Match For A Saint

This truth is very strange to most professing believers. People discount the devil as though he is only a figment of our imagination. Even those that believe he is real basically ignore him and label the things he does to them as bad luck or a natural result of life. I think we can conclude that Satan is mostly unopposed and free to do his dirty work. He is turning America into a cesspool and most homes, including their children, are being absolutely destroyed. Satan has never had more privilege to do as he pleases as he is doing in our present world.

But, this is not what the Father desires. Satan is limited by a divine mandate and cannot pass over the lines that our Father has set. The Father governs His universe and has established principles that no one can override. The saint of God that walks in Biblical obedience has the authority to resist Satan and defeat him. Regardless of how godly a person lives, no one is automatically protected. There are certainly limits, which determine Lucifer’s ability, but many of those limits are in your power to control. You must learn to resist him and quit opening doors to him. He has the right to attack, but he does not have the right to win.

Christ’s entire life was a battle with Satan. The Lord Jesus never lost one of those battles because He was perfectly surrendered to the Father and then presented the pattern of victory for us. “. . . Because as he is, so are we in this world” (I John 4:17b). Demons cried for mercy in His presence. They sought to kill Him. They lost the battle over and over until He chose His own time of death. He identified diseases that were a result of Satan’s activity and then cast the spirit out, releasing the person from that disease. A crippled woman, bowed over in desperate contortions, was delivered of a spirit and immediately stood perfectly straight. A child was possessed. The evil spirit would cast the child into the fire in an attempt to kill the child until Jesus Christ rebuked the spirit and cast it out. In another instance, “Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw” (Matthew 12:22).

Now, we are beginning to see the pattern of Satan’s work. Jesus, said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10a). Everything that destroys must be credited to the Destroyer. When you are depressed, the enemy is responsible. Suicidal tendencies are demonic in nature. Anger, pride, jealousy, and wrath are actions in human flesh where the evil one is influencing conduct. There is no way to separate anything evil from everything evil. The modern effort to identify all human failures and destructive habits as psychological has left the world a crippled place to live. Secular psychology is one of America’s greatest lies.

Some of you are so turned off at this point that you need to click “delete.” But, the rest of you, please bear with me. In every circumstance Satan’s powers can be defeated. The Father never pleases to throw even one of you to the dogs – I mean demons. Any problem that you are either bound with or being destroyed by can be broken and you can be healed. As the closing words of the last paragraph, Jesus said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10b). Nobody is excluded.

A tormented, possessed wreck of a person can be perfectly whole. A raving maniac can sit “at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind . . .” (Luke 8:35b). A man that was born blind can receive his sight. “He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing” (John 9:6b-7). The only times in which it was impossible for Jesus to perform miracles was when unbelief had captured the hearts and minds of the people. Jesus Christ performed miracles when faith was absent, but he never performed miracles when unbelief was present. Some people do not have faith because they are empty of the truth.&n bsp;Jesus Christ is ready to reveal Himself to that person. But, when those that have heard and should know are full of unbelief, He will do nothing because He does not respond to unbelief.

Now, it is time for all of us to stand up like adults. Jesus taught us – all of us – that we must bind the strongman (Satan), “Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house” (Matthew 12:29). It is imperative that we learn to take our authority over Satan that the victory of the cross has accomplished. Satan is a whipped foe. He has been defeated.

Until you are hid with Christ in God, this glorious victory is totally beyond your ability. You, in your flesh and unsanctified life, cannot know this joyous triumph. “So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:8). The Lord said, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing” (John 6:63a).

James taught us this breakthrough principle, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). The missing miracle in our lives is total submission to God. An absolute surrender of your body, soul, and spirit to Him will start you on the road to freedom from all of Satan’s designs. This submission means living in the Word of God, obeying every truth and principle, and living only for Him. By His Holy Spirit, He is ready to make you a triumphant saint. Satan is no match for a Holy Ghost filled saint of God.
