GOD LOVES HIS PRODIGAL SONS

Nothing grieves our Heavenly Father like the prodigals who have gone astray. The Father never forgets them until death claims their soul. One of the sad facts that often destroys the backslider is the blindness they experience. Most backsliders will not admit their condition. Usually they can find someone to blame and that makes them even more locked in their imagination. The story of the Prodigal Son is one of Christ’s greatest examples. Several factors played a part of the “And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.” (Luke 15:13) He left his father’s house of plenty but was soon in desperate want. “And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.” (Luke 15:16) He had to see his insanity before he could start for home. “And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!” (Luke 15:17) The father was waiting for him even though it had been a long time. “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” (Luke 15:20) This is such a grand picture of the welcome a fallen believer can expect. You are not hated even though it has been a long time and you are now a mess. The Father is waiting even as you read. “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.” (James 5:7) You will hear the DAVY BOGGS FAMILY singing one of my favorite songs,“THE SWEET HOLY GHOST” at the introduction to this Sermon. Then our singers from Paw Creek will bless you before the WORD.

  1. Excellent message and reminder.

Thank God that he does not forget all his prodigal children – of which I have often been.

Romans 7:14-25 very much reflects my own struggle and I suspect I’m not alone.

The fact of the matter is, God is in there for the long haul and he will always welcome us back home. All we have to do is to be smart enough to turn around!

  2. Dear Pastor,

Yes i too am a prodigal, perhaps i have stumbled more than 7 times only to rise again 7 times..
just read James 5:7 to Kandyce at work this morning.

How the Good Lord has forgiven me of much, i want to love much in turn.

How we need to the latter rain, open wide our mouths for it.

Dear Pastor, you have been a light for me over the years and i thank Jesus that his servant has been kind to write to me. To quote Peter if we leave the Lord and the fellowship at this site, where will we go to? Where else is truth in this world?

    God Bless You
    jaimie

  3. Jesus always taught in parables. Show the Church by the older son’s attitude. Both the Jew and the church was shown to both need a savior. the young son represents the Jew. Notice how the Father was waiting…with love and a killing of the best calf for their meal, the signant ring. One day the L-rd will stand on the Mt of Olive and bring up the dead and give them a heart of flesh and he will pour pure water on them and take away their sin and ALL Israel will be saved. G-d is letting us all know that the old testament people and the new t people NEED a savior. the laws given to the Jews cold not be done any more that us Christian can be pure. mercy and grace has always been around from Gen to Rev. not to forget Salvation came thru the Jews and were not replaced wiht the genties. I can see we all need to get our spirital house in order and watch and pray without ceasing and always give G-d the glory, our thanks and praise. HE IS COMING soon. Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. Genesis 12:3 G-d tells us to bless Israel or be cursed. Every man and women is responsible to follow G-d’s word, not man’s. this is a wonder truth web. thanks

  4. Dear Brother Joseph, this kind of teaching is always a great blessing to my soul, The prodical son has such a sad beginning and yet a wonderful end, such is the life of a backslider. There a many reasons why a person go’s away from the Lord, mine, in the past, has been personal shame, how can God love a son that does such things? I am ever so thankful and grateful that The Lord Jesus Christ sent unto us “The Holy Spirit”, for without Him there would be no chance whatsoever of any hope of a return to the Lord from our backsliden state. The love, mercy and forgivness of God are some of the great weapon’s we can use against backsliding. This may seem a strage thing to say, what do you think? I wonder how we would feel about ourselves and our stand before God if He was to lift His hand of blessing’s from of us, and we receive nothing from Him, just like most of us give to Him almost nothing at all.

  5. As we prepare tp return to our father we all hope to be thus forgiven and loved so that we won’t have to suffer here on earth as so many will have to.

We are on the perfect path God has laid out for us in his perfect plan and like a train roaring full spend towards the end of the track there is to be a great wreck. The Arab world is in chaos, Damascus is preparing to be destroyed, Persia is preparing for war, greed has lead us to a world wide economic crash, and morality has too crashed with so many. All the prophacies are being fulfilled right now.

The time has come for mankind to realize that their not following Gods will and Gods laws only leads to destruction of their world and all they know. Only Gods will, will continue forener and mans ways will end

  6. This lesson is not only about a Father’s longing for His son to return, but it is also a measure of the longsuffering quality of Yahweh God. It is indeed unfathomable.
