The Perfect Law of Liberty

The genuine Christian life is a life of liberty. The “Born Again” believer that has maintained their first love and the seal of God’s Spirit in their heart is going to be a happy and free soul. There is no ridged rules and strict laws in the life of the true saint of God. They do not need bondage or legalism to make them live right. Any religious person that is constantly under the rod of correction is going to be depressed and gloomy. It is not the life that our Lord has ordained for us. Legalism is a life of constant pressure and usually ends in complete rejection of Christian living.

James, a half-brother of the Lord, describes the life ordained for every believer. “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed” (James 1:25). It is the authority of the Word of God that sets the sinner free of that old man of sin. A genuine Christian is begotten of the Word. It’s a birth, the second birth, that Jesus said was the one and only way into the kingdom. His words were, “…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3) Jesus was begotten of the Holy Ghost and we must be begotten of the same Spirit that acts by the Word of God and Christ’s blood to totally transform every sinner that comes to faith.

When any soul, moral or immoral, religious or unreligious, decides it is their time to surrender to Jesus Christ, this “New Birth” is the only door. A person who is raised just to be religious, or whose experience in coming to faith is only a mental and religious choice, will completely fail this test. A mental choice for Jesus Christ that has no heart experience or transformation is woefully inadequate. They may be religious with a mind for church life or theological studies, but they are lost concerning their eternity. The church world must be brought back to the great words of the Son of God, “…Ye must be born again” John 3:7.

We hear much ranting against any teaching of Holy Scripture that includes holy living. To teach the necessity of keeping God’s commandments is to invite the charge of legalism. Absolutely no keeping of the great laws of God can save one soul. There is no good work or works that have the power to convert the sinner to God. It is grace alone that transforms. But grace is the mighty work of the Word of God that is great to save and transform. There is no need for legalism in the life of the totally transformed believer that walks in the Word. The Word and the Spirit will leave no stone unturned until the “Born Again” believer reflects the beauty of Christ.

A new creature is God’s greatest testimony to the world of the impact of the Cross. When a debauched soul, depraved and lost, comes to Christ and the new creature emerges, everybody that knows that person will sit up and listen. That is the gospel written upon the epistle of the human face. Our greatest sermons cannot surpass the sermon that shines in a “Born Again” life.

The Holy Spirit is the Father and the SonÂ’s Spirit to convict and convert souls. The Word of God is the covenant of all truth, and every power in GodÂ’s universe is subject to Holy Scripture. Demons are bound by the Word, and sin is exposed by the same Word. When we submit to truth then that truth begets us into ChristÂ’s family and kingdom. While the world is spiraling its way into judgment, the hungry soul can turn to travel the straight road to ChristÂ’s eternity.

The very atmosphere in our world is charged with the spirit of deception, but all powers in heaven and earth are subject unto Christ. The “perfect law of liberty” will set you free and keep you on the straight and narrow. The end-time prize, which Jesus Christ has planned, is worth the cost of surrender and He alone deserves your ultimate love.
