The Father and Our Human Spirit

Nothing in all of life is more wonderful than communication and fellowship between man and His God. When the Father created us, He breathed into us His breath of life; and we call it our human spirit. It is a whisper of Himself given to every individual person. The primary foundation of the “whosoever will” Gospel invitation is the fact of His breath of life in every living soul. Nobody can be excluded from the Redemption message because nobody is absent from this whisper of God.

Regardless of how depraved in sin a man may be, this small voice in our spirit actually pants for the Creator. Karl Marx stated “man is incurably religious.” Another said “religion is the opium of the people.” Every unsaved individual has a call from the deep recesses out of his depraved and fallen nature.

The Blood of the Son of God has paid the ransom for our fallen nature. When we claim the Ransom our God demanded and Jesus Christ paid, the spirit in man is regenerated to fellowship with His Father. Once separated by the awful chasm of sin, we now are sons and daughters of the Great “I Am”. Jesus taught us to pray saying, “Our Father (His and ours) which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name…” (Luke 11:2). You may live in the direst of circumstances and be void of human friendship but if you know God, you are the King’s son. You may be wealthy and an idol to mankind but if you do not know “Him,” you are empty and life will grow cheaper by the day. God created you to be His friend and to walk beside you on your mountain or in your valley. “..for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” (Heb 13:5).

Moses cried out to God and said, “I beseech thee, show me thy glory” (Exodus 33:18) . That, my friends, is the cry of every truly transformed servant of God unless it has been allowed to die. Oh, that I may know Him more intimately than I have ever known Him. But we forget that His longing to be known of us is far more defined than our longing to know Him. He awaits our entrance into the hidden place He has provided. He immediately told Moses where that narrow gateway awaited his longing soul. “And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by.” (Exodus 33:21-22 )

One has but to enter in total surrender into the smitten “Rock,” the Crucified Lamb, to have the richest of fellowship with His God. No flesh uncrucified and still alive in self can enter this sacred domain. It is not a crowded place, but those that give up all to know Him will affect their world beyond measure. When Aaron and Miriam, the siblings of Moses spoke against him, God Himself responded. Listen to the words directly from the mouth of God. “And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” (Numbers 12:5-8)

Our world can get by with criticizing the average minister of our day, but give us some men and women that talk mouth-to-mouth with God and it will be better for the critic to tread softly. God has created you and given you the greatest gift of all in your human spirit. This whisper of Himself is that still small voice that makes your life empty without Him. The broken spirits that fill our communities, families and churches are nothing but longing souls depraved of this Lifespring. They are empty because of that vacuum that only He can fill. Jesus has paid the debt and all that believe and surrender can know Him and delight in His Presence.
