THE HOLY GHOST IS THE CONSCIOUS PRESENCE OF JESUS CHRIST

THE SON OF GOD SITS AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER. We surely want Him to be right there interceding for each of us, yet we want Him in His body, the church, His presence with us and in us. This He does by the Holy Ghost whom the Father sent when Christ was resurrected and ascended. So the truth is that He is both in Heaven at the right hand of the Father and He is here by His Holy Ghost to be present with us. What a wonderful mystery and reality. His conscience presence is with us and in us by His Spirit.

This great truth is seen throughout the Bible but no where as beautiful as in His Pastoral prayer in St. John the Seventh Chapter. Let’s read those wonderful words. “I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.” (St. John 17:15-17, 21-24) These are majestic words straight from the Son of God.

His Saints are a unique and special people. He made it plain that we are not of this world. Sanctification is that glorious experience that purifies our flesh and its desires, and sets us apart for the Lord. These are holy people who no longer run after sin, but what is so beautiful is that they share His glory. The same presence that fills Jesus Christ has come to fill us. In the Old or First Testament the Holy Spirit came upon men and moved them to do His commands. Now we have the fullness of the Holy Spirit and His glory is appointed to rest upon us and in us. This is now the Lord’s present anointing to do His will in our world. He said it in this prayer. “And Thy glory which Thou gavest Me have I given them…” This is marvelous truth and absolutely beautiful.

I love the measureless presence of Jesus Christ upon my life. This is His conscious presence that He desires for us to live by. Most of the church world lives without being conscious of Him. They go about the Christian life as if it is a drudgery. Most go to church out of duty but never experiencing His wonderful presence. Church history is full of men and women that drank from the fountain that flows from the Throne.

Here is a quote from an “Old-Fashioned Baptist minister, Oswald Chambers” which speaks of “Inspired Invincibility.” I love his closing words, “No power on earth or in hell can conquer the Spirit of God in a human spirit. It is an inner unconquerableness.” Please let these great words bless you.

“Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me.” Matthew xi. 29!!!! “Whom the Lord loveth, He chasteneth.” How petty our complaining is! Our Lord begins to bring us into the place where we can have communion with Him, and we groan and say–“O Lord, let me be like other people!” Jesus is asking us to take one end of the yoke–“My yoke is easy, get alongside Me and we will pull together.” Are you identified with the Lord Jesus like that? If so, you will thank God for the pressure of His hand.”

“To them that have no might He increaseth strength.” God comes and takes us out of our sentimentality, and our complaining turns into a means of praise. The only way to know the strength of God is to take the yoke of Jesus upon us and learn of Him. The joy of the Lord is your strength.” Where do the saints get their joy from? If we did not know some saints, we would say–“Oh, he, or she, has nothing to bear.” Lift the veil. The fact that the peace and the light and the joy of God are there is proof that the burden is there too. The burden God places squeezes the grapes and out comes the wine; most of us see the wine only. No power on earth or in hell can conquer the Spirit of God in a human spirit, it is an inner unconquerableness. If you have the whine in you, kick it out ruthlessly. It is a positive crime to be weak in God’s strength.(“MY UPMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST, page 105)

We are absolutely unconquerable if we learn to live in the conscious presence of Jesus Christ which is provided by the indwelling Holy Ghost. It is the spiritual dimension almost totally absent in our day. The church world is living beneath the level where real victory over this world begins. What is worse is most of what we hear or read simply makes excuses for our defeat. We do the work of God and the soul of men such injustice when we condone their bondage to sin. The Christian life is either victorious of it or far below what the Bible teaches. Most people love to quote Romans Seven but never find the power of Romans Eight. “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” (Romans 8:11) Wow! What a triumph is awaiting the soul that no longer believes in excuses.

  1. MOST IN RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY (EARTHLY “CHURCH”) DO NOT HAVE HOLY SPIRIT

    Dear Joe Chambers,

Most people in the CHRISTEDOM RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY DO NOT HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND ARE NOT SAVED. These people go to WORSHIP HALLS ON SUNDAY MORNING, but the Spirit is not with them. Their pastors PREACH PORK-BARREL PROSPERITY ENTITLEMENT PREACHING that makes people feel good, but does not get them saved. They do NOT PREACH REPENTANCE, and do NOT PREACH PROPHECIES FROM DANIEL OR REVELATION: They do not talk about the GREAT EVACUATION (RAPTURE): The do not WARN ABOUT THE GULAG BELOW CALLED HELL. The do not speak against HOMOSEXUAL SIN: The make unsaved sinners comfortable in their sins: But they do preach the PORK-BARREL GOSPEL. So their people DO NOT GET SAVED in these LOOT-WARM LAODICEAN CHURCHES. The Holy Spirit is not in them. You wont find the Holy Spirit in these PORK-BARREL CHURCHES. You wont find the Holy Spirit CATHOLIC OR GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCHES (a mix of paganism & Judaism). You wont find the Spirit in SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCHES (this is really JUDAISM. Garner Ted Armstrong is also JUDAISM). The Spirit is not in the Mormon Church. The Spirit also is not in the LIBERAL “MAINLINE” CHURCHES. He is not in the METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY (GAYS) CHURCH. The only places you will find the Holy Spirit is in the TRUE CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN BIBLE BELIEVING CHURCHES. So when the RAPTURE COMES, IT WILL SHOW EXACTLY WHO HAS THE SPIRIT OF GOD, AND WHO DOES NOT. The Bible says tha He that has not the Spirit is none of his. The rapture will show who is saved and who is not. Those saved go up. Those not saved stay on the earth for TRIBULATION, though some may get saved in Tribulation an die as martyrs.

    What do you think Joe.

    Sincerely,

    Keith

  2. How wonderful, Joseph. You’ve finally left Revelation and decided to fix on John and the priestly prayer after the Last Supper to speak about the Living Spirit of the Father and Son.

But you’ve missed out citing Jesus speaking of the Spirit of Truth and how He will lead usm not to part of the truth, mind you, not some of the truth, not even most of the truth. Jesus said, “When He, the Spirit of Truth, shall come, He will guide you to all truth; for He shall not speak for Himself but whatever He shall hear that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come” John 16:13.

Sects and denominations can only claim part of the Truth because, of necessity, they must ignore, or even re-interpret Scripture (like the Jehovah’s Witnesses) or de-emphasize parts of Scripture that don’t fit in with part of the Truth being emphasized by the sect or denomination.

Sects and denominations always start with a truth. But then they emphasize that truth until it pushes out any other parts of Scripture that are in conflict with their extra emphasis. Arianism, for instance, began with the reasonable truth that Jesus is human. But then Arius used parts of Scripture such as “The Father is greater than I” to deny that Jesus was born with human and divine natures, ignoring such citations as, “I and the Father are one.” Arius’ belief also denies the Holy Trinity since he denies that the Son is eternal and only “gained” divinity after the Crucifixion.

Since living eternally is a major part of being divine, it is nonsensical for the Son to be created and exist in eternity. Nothing can be created and be eternal. Therefore Arius’ thesis is immediately understood to be wrong. Yet it became very popular, not dying out until the 5th century only to be resurrected by the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

So the Spirit of Truth does not work in parts. He works with the entire Scripture.

  3. Well, Keith, Catholic and Orthodox Churches are much more tolerant than you are. We believe the Holy Spirit comes upon all Christians at Baptism (See John 3:5, 1Peter 3:20,21, Titus 3:5 et al). Sorry you don’t care for the words of Jesus, Peter or Paul.

  4. Dear Pastor

well you answered one question i just recently had. Oswald Chambers book “My Utmost for His Highest” is in my possesion and i did not know if he was right with the Lord, but now it is on my table for reading. As he was born in 1874 he must be a Philadelphian.

The Holy Spirit will dwell with us in the kingdom of the Lord, just a Death shall dwell in the pit. The last of the spirits to take thier places when all is finished

    Praise the Lord Jesus!

    god bless
    jaimie

  5. Presence – that’s the word. In my experience, a believer will have that sense of the presence of God by the operation of his Holy Spirit – though there are times we all are in a spiritual desert when God seems very far away. Of course, the problem is with us, not God. It’s a very human thing.

Even Moses seemed to have times when he felt the responsibility for over a million people was all on his own shoulders. I imagine John the Baptist had doubts when he was in prison because he sent some of his disciples to see Jesus, wondering if he really was the Messiah or not. He must have wondered why his cousin hadn’t yet become the conquering king who would make all things right. On a personal level, he might have wondered why Jesus had left him in jail. Couldn’t the Messiah have rescued him? How often I’ve wondered why sickness persists, decent people suffer, and evil sometimes goes on with no apparent restraint. Couldn’t these burdens have been made even a little lighter? But we should remember that after the Rapture the restraining influence of the Spirit will in fact be gone and the Bible shows us how much WORSE it’ll be then!

As we watch the world in these Last Days, it is still easy to feel as if God has forgotten even his believers sometimes. Jesus said we would have tribulation in this life – but reassured us that he had overcome this world.

One day God’s victory will come to pass on this lost universe, but in the meantime we have the Presence and Word of God to give us the courage to endure.

  6. Good Quote

People in the church seem to measure their “holiness” by their level of separation from
the world. They boast about activities they won’t partake in, places they won’t go to,
shows and songs they won’t watch or listen to, etc. As we live for the Lord each day,
we WILL further pull away from the world around us. However, our boasting will be
in the Lord and His goodness!

True purity comes by drawing closer to the Lord! The closer to the Lord the further
from the world, yes…but if your “closeness” to God causes you to brag when comparing
yourself to other members of the Body, then brother or sister you stink with pride!

Examine yourself, and be certain you are drawing nigh to God and not just feeding a
    different part of your flesh!
